Inside Ursula Hitler's Head 22: Do You Feel Real?

In a funny way, this may be my favorite episode of the whole series. It's a little jarring coming right after the goofy stuff in the previous episode, but it has a bittersweet quality that I respond to.

There's something about the way that Sweetie expresses her longing to be real that I always found moving, but I couldn't explain why. It wasn't until months later that I realized the obvious: Sweetie is my girl side, and she's desperate to escape her little room, to get out there in the world and experience life, to be real. When she talks about how thrilling it is to hear the sounds and see the sights of a whole new world, I can relate. That's exactly how I felt, the first time I went out in drag. It was an amazing, terrifying, wonderful experience. For the first time in my life, I felt really real.
